The State of Our World

There’s so much about Our World today that just isn’t right- and it’s not right in a lot of different ways. Don’t misunderstand me, there are always the small, good things in our world that we can rely on, like a good friend or a faded pair of jeans. Those little things make life worthwhile in their own ways, but everything could and should be so much better for everyone. We just have to make the changes ourselves.

      Writing about Our world is an excruciating task for me. I find myself hating everything about what we’ve let Our World become, and I just want to rant and rave about how screwed up everything is. On the other hand, I have an optimistic side that says we will always have the power to change things, and just spouting off about what’s wrong won’t help anything. So in this column I will do my best to report to you the State of Our World, and present possible paths of action to help us change.

     Unfortunately I couldn’t narrow down this article to one subject, so today I will give a brief overview of what I believe are some of the problems plaguing the world in which we live. Later we will break each one down and discuss ways to get involved. So here is an appetizer plate for us to begin with.

Slavery is still alive, and it’s growing. Capitalism is slavery. Just because they pay the slaves now doesn’t mean it’s not still slavery. The fact is that most of us make enough just to get by and we are dependant on our jobs to survive, and if I remember right even 300 years ago slaves were given a place to live. We are dispensable labor, and capitalism is the system that replaced slavery.

Slave owners = Corporations

Slaves = workers.

Nothing Good Comes from War. Hello!?! This is the year 2007 and we are still killing people...how stupid can we be? If we are truly the most intelligent creature on the earth, then you think that we would have learned that thousands of years of fighting just leads to lots of dead bodies, and OH YEAH, don’t forget, MORE WARS.

Communication is dead. We have more tools and technology to communicate than ever before, but why can’t we hear each other? The art of talking and understanding is dead. This is sad. Everybody must be heard, and the only things we hear are the easiest things to digest

Face problems, fix problems, communicate.

The media lies. Never forget that media is a business- they don’t inform, they don’t entertain, they make MONEY.

The Rich Rule – If you don’t have a million dollars, don’t run for office. We believe the only way to change our lives is to become rich.

Memo: The Rich Club is closed, you can’t get in, so shut up and go back to work.

Lobbyist and earmarks decide what happens in the government.  If you think the people have the power...wake up! Money talks. On Election Day we get to pick between two rich people who are being paid by the same people.  If this is okay with you then please keep watching reality shows.  WE DON’T NEED YOU.

 Okay, those are a few things to get us started. If you would like to choose which topic we discuss first, or want to add some of you own ideas, e-mail me at jesusshuttlesworth@arabianmonkey.com. Let us know discussions are not one sided.

Jesus out.
